As a graduate of Boise State University, 2000, with a degree in Construction Management and Minor in Business Management. Alex has spent the past 20+ years in the civil construction industry becoming an accomplished and energetic leader with a solid history of achievement in bidding, building and managing all aspects of civil construction projects.
Prior to joining Leon Poulsen Construction in July 2018, he spent the previous 17 ½ years’ working for Granite Construction Company - Utah becoming a motivated leader with strong organizational and prioritization abilities. Key areas of expertise include private, municipal, state, federal, Department of Defense, Army CORP, airfield, and alternative delivery methods for civil construction projects. In addition, he has developed an excellent track record of achieving exceptional results working with stakeholders to resolve project issues, thorough understanding of the integration of public information and outreach programs, experienced with complex and time sensitive construction schedules, and performing work in environmentally sensitive locations.
Alex Purchased Leon Poulsen Construction Company in January 2022 and is the sole owner and President. The Company has experienced extensive growth under his leadership over the past 5 years and he is looking forward to the future.

Steve worked part-time for Leon Poulsen Construction Company until 1975 while attending college and then worked full-time until 1985 when he purchased the Company from his father, Leon Poulsen.
In January 2022, Steve sold the Company to Alex Rountree and took on the role of Vice President. Steve continues to manage construction projects and helps to manage the daily operations as needed. He hopes to retire in the near future to spend more time with his children and grandchildren.
Steve is also the sole owner of S.L. Poulsen Properties, a Corporation that owns and manages property. This Company developed Mill Creek Plaza in Marriott-Slaterville as well as the 400 N. commercial project.
S&L Leasing provides traffic control rentals for construction projects and is also solely owned by Steve Poulsen.
